Power of the Rose
So as many of us know, the Rose nuke goes off within Netero after his heart stops and it reduces poor Meruem to a stump version of himself that doesn’t have long to live after the attack. What amount of power would it take to do such a thing? My interest lies in the scan above. The rose that detonated after Netero’s death was hindered by the fact that it went off underground. We didn’t really get to see what it could do. In the scan above, the fireball of the rose dwarfs a skyscraper, and I’ll use that as my reference.
A skyscraper is at minimum 150 m tall. The skyscraper stands 45 pixels tall compared to the fireball radius at 140.
140 / 45 = 3.111 * 150 = 466.65 m, radius of fireball.
According to SD.net’s nuke calculator, the yield for a fireball of that size would be 1.2 Megatons.
Post Nuke Meruem’s Rage Blast
Meruem’s Rage Blast vaporizes a large chunk of a plateau.
Gon is 1.54 m tall. He measures 31 pixels here compared to Hakoware at 14.
14 / 31 = .452 * 1.54 = .696 m, Hakoware height.
From right to left… Hakoware measures at 7 pixels compared to radius of the blast at 188. On the left panel, the blast is 6 pixels in diameter compared to the plateau height of 51.
188 / 7 = 26.857 * .696 = 18.693 * 2 = 37.386 m, blast diameter.
51 / 6 = 8.5 * 37.386 = 317.781 m, height of plateau.
From top to bottom… height of plateau is 146 pixels compared to width at 515. In the panel below, the plateau is 509 pixels wide compared to top diameter of destruction at 394 and bottom at 266.
515 / 146 = 3.527 * 317.781 = 1,120.814 m, width of plateau.
394 / 509 = .774 * 1,120.814 = 867.51 m, top diameter of destruction.
266 / 509 = .523 * 1,120.814 = 586.186 m, bottom diameter of destruction.
Treating the vaporized rock as a truncated cone, the volume would be 133,503,628.835 m^3.
Rock is 2,700 kg/m^3.
2,700 * 133,503,628.835 = 360,459,797,854.5 Kg of rock vaporized.
Vaporization point of rock is 2,470 C, and the temp change at standard temps would be 2,450 C. Specific heat of rock is 750 J/kg C.
360,459,797,854.5 * 750 * 2,450 = 662,344,878,557,643,750 J
Now we need to find latent heat of vaporization. Rock has a latent heat of vaporization of 4.8 KJ/g, or 4,800,000 J/Kg
360,459,797,854.5 * 4,800,000 = 1,730,207,029,701,600,000 J
1,730,207,029,701,600,000 + 662,344,878,557,643,750 = 2,392,551,908,259,243,750 J, or 571.83 Megatons
I would presume this also means that he could survive a Rose bomb… at least before the poison gets him. So far, this is the most destructive feat in HxH. Perhaps the dark continent will take it further? We’ll see… if the series ends before we die of old age. 😀
