Bleach – Hueco Mundo Arc Feats Pt. 1

Hollow Ichigo Squats Some Iron

Alright, so technically this one is from the Vizard arc, but it’s pretty much the only calculable feat from that time that seemed noteworthy. See, I think what happened to Kubo was that since the entire arc took place in the middle of town, he couldn’t realistically let anything get destroyed. So the result were a bunch of fights where all of the big explosions and such happen high in the air. But anyway…

Hollow Ichigo has 5 steel pillars placed on his limbs to keep him pressed down. However, upon his awakening, he stands up and crushes the pillars against the top of Hachi’s barrier. This feat represents an extremely rare opportunity to use compressive strength.

Ichigo is 1.74 m tall. He’s 148 pixels here compared to his shoulder width at 35.

35 / 148 = .237 * 1.74 = .412 m, Ichigo’s shoulder width

Ichigo’s shoulder width is 140 pixels compared to steel beam edge at 154.

154 / 140 = 1.1 * .412 = .453 m, base edge of steel beam

Base edge of steel beam is 24 pixels compared to height at 403.

403 / 24 = 16.792 * .453 = 7.607 m, height of steel beam

The compressive strength of steel is 250 MPa or 250,000,000 Pa. That is to say, the amount that steel can be crushed before it fractures. That’s exactly what happened in this feat.

F = P * A

Where F is Force in Newtons, P is Pressure in Pascals, and A is Area in m^2.

Treating the beam as a pentagon, each face of it would have an area of .353 m^2.

250,000,000 * .353 = 88,250,000 N, force required to fracture one steel beam

w = f * d

In this case, Distance d is the height of each pillar, 7.607 m.

7.607 * 88,250,000 = 671,317,750 J

However, there are five pillars, so…

671,317,750 * 5 = 3,356,588,750 J, or 802.244 Kg of TNT

I always thought that this one would be much more impressive. *Shrugs* Oh well.

Rukia’s White Ripple

Erm… look closely before making any smart comments about the title >_>… but anyway, Rukia freezes Runuganga, and since he’s so large, I figured it would be a nice way to see what her ice Zampaktou is capable of.

Ichigo, as previously established, is 1.74 m tall. He’s 22 pixels here compared to Runuganga’s full height at 476, and depth from chest to back at 90.

476 / 22 = 21.636 * 1.74 = 37.647 m, Runuganga’s height

90 / 22 = 4.091 * 1.74 = 7.118 m, Runuganga’s depth

Runuganga is 629 pixels compared to extra height of ice at 26, 82 for diameter of chest hole, 596 for diameter of ice, and 485 for diameter of body.

26 / 629 = .041 * 37.647 = 1.544 m, height of extra ice

82 / 629 = .13 * 37.647 = 4.894 m, diameter of hole

596 / 629 = .948 * 37.647 = 35.689 m, diameter of ice

485 / 629 = .771 * 37.647 = 29.026 m, diameter of body

What I’ll do from here is treat the ice as a hollow dome. First I’ll find the volume of ice as if it were a full dome, then volume of Runuganga’s body as if he were a dome, and subtract the two to find our true volume. I will also be assuming that the chest hole was frozen solid.

Ice “full” volume = 51,120.59 m^3

Body “volume” = 40,393.24 m^3

51,120.59 – 40,393.24 = 10,727.35 m^3

Now for the chest hole, treating it as a cylinder, using body depth for height and the hole diameter, we get a volume of 133.899 m^3

10,727.35 + 133.899 = 10,861.249 m^3, full volume of ice

Since Rukia froze mostly air, that’s what we’ll be focusing on. It’s stated earlier in the Vizard arc that her attacks only freeze the skin. Frankly, I have no good way to calculate the frozen nature of the sand and it would likely be negligible anyway.

Air is 1.25 Kg/m^3.

1.25 * 10,861.249 = 13,576.561 Kg of frozen air

When it comes to freezing, it’s best to think of it like a release of energy, as opposed to putting that energy into something like melting or vaporization. It is in fact the polar opposite of vaporizing, and yet, it requires the same level of energy to pull off.

We’ll use latent heat and specific heat capacity to figure out the energy required.

Let’s assume that the sand is 20 degrees C. C02 freezes at -78.5 C, so temp change is 98.5 CSpecific heat of C02 at a temp of around -78.5 C is .735 KJ/Kg K or 735 J/Kg C.

13,576.561 * 735 * 98.5 = 982,909,074.998 J

Latent Heat of Fusion of C02 is 205 KJ/kg, or 205,000 J/Kg

13,576.561 * 205,000 = 2,783,195,005 J

2,783,195,005 + 982,909,074.998 = 3,766,104,079.998 J, or 900.12 Kg of TNT

I think that if we were somehow able to account for the surface of sand frozen, it’d surpass the 1 ton of TNT mark.

Ishida’s Reishi Perception

Ishida’s Seele Schneider vibrates 3 million times per second. In addition, he points out that Cirruci’s “feathers” vibrate at 1.1-1.3 million times per second. Figured that his ability to perceive these things would tell us his reaction speed, to some degree.

Vibrations are essentially something moving up and down or left to right with relative quickness. The amount that the object moves is called displacement. Funny enough, I can’t really find a solid number on common displacements, as frequency is used far more often. However, I do know that it’s measured in millimetres. In the interest of keeping things low-end, I’ll use 1 mm as the amount of displacement for vibration.

1 mm = .001 m

3,000,000 * .001 = 3,000 m/s, or Mach 8.82

If you want to assume that for some reason Ishida was told by someone else that his Seele Schneider vibrated that many times per second, then we can go by his observation that Cirruci’s feathers vibrated at 1.1 – 1.3 million times per second.

1,100,000 * .001 = 1,100 m/s, or Mach 3.24

1,300,000 * .001 – 1,300 m/s or Mach 3.82

I’m much more inclined to use Mach 8.82 to be honest, but I gave a range just in case.

Grimmjow Smacks Ichigo Around

Grimmjow punches Ichigo through a large building and destroys it.

Grimmjow is 1.86 m tall. He’s 12 pixels here compared to 285 for length of building and 233 for diameter.

285 / 12 = 23.75 * 1.86 = 44.175 m, length of building

233 / 12 = 19.417 * 1.86 = 36.116 m, diameter of building

Alright, so here I’m scaling what I believe to be the building’s radius to get a wall thickness.

38 / 160 = .238 * 18.058 = 4.298 m, thickness of walls

From here, we treat it as a hollow cylinder. Initial volume will be as if it’s a full cylinder, while second will be accounting for the walls. Then I’ll subtract the two to get true volume.

Full cylinder volume = 45,254.912 m^3

Cylinder minus wall thickness (8.596 m) volume = 25,593.281 m^3

45,254.912 – 25,593.281 = 19,661.631 m^3, true volume

19,661.631 m^3 = 19,661,631,000 cm^3

Although there’s noticeable fragmentation, there’s also a high amount of spall from the attack. However, this spall is only concentrated in the middle of the building, and then the rest fragments violently, leading to a collapse. For this reason, for the full building I will use 20 J/cc.

19,661,631,000 * 20 = 393,232,620,000 J, or 93.985 Tons of TNT

Grimmjow’s Garra De La Pantera

Grimmjow’s Garra De La Pantera destroys another Hueco Mundo building. This one is particularly worth noting, because Ichigo tanked five of them at once:

But at any rate, let’s figure out how impressive the feat is.

For this one, I’ll assume that wall thickness for the buildings in the battle area are all of a similar size. I’ll be using the previously found 4.298 m here. The wall thickness is 12 pixels compared to building length at 260 and diameter at 268.

260 / 12 = 21.667 * 4.298 = 93.125 m, length of building

268 / 12 = 22.333 * 4.298 = 95.987 m, diameter of building

Same method as before…

Full cylinder volume = 673,877.574 m^3

Cylinder minus wall thickness (8.596 m) volume = 558,585.406 m^3

673,877.574 – 558,585.406 = 115,292.168 m^3, true volume

115,292.168 m^3 = 115,292,168,000 cm^3

Going to use explosive fragmentation once again because while there is spall, the result is mostly large fragements collapsing. The only reason this isn’t lowered to regular fragmentation is from the presence of spall in the collapse, which makes me think it’s stronger than that. 20 J/cc.

115,292,168,000 * 20 = 2,305,843,360,000 J, or 551.11 Tons of TNT

Ichigo tanked five of these at once, so…

2,305,843,360,000 * 5 = 11,529,216,800,000 J, or 2.76 Kilotons
